In Panama the market buses are called "Gallera" (=cage for fighting cocks), or chiva (junk). Several are seen
here in Penonomé, a town west of Panama city along the Pan American Highway, after having unloaded passengers
and goods at the local market. The modern chassis used are all of Japanese origin: Daihatsu Delta, Isuzu NPR,
Toyota Dyna. The bodywork forms quite a contrast with the modern truck cabins and the modern environment of the
highway.
